The main aim of these conferences is to demonstrate the benefits of such materials to the industry, as well as to promote an open discussion forum between the Portuguese scientific community and researchers (including experts) from other countries, encouraging future collaborations.

 A special issue with selected papers submitted to these conferences will be published by Elsevier in the Journal “Science & Technology of Materials” indexed to ScienceDirect and to Scopus. They will be held in the city of Aveiro (Portugal), from September 25 to 27, 2017 and supported by the Portuguese Society of Materials (SPM) and the Association DYMAT (DYMAT).
